Father's Day marks a special day in all our lives. It is a time we can celebrate our fathers, grandfathers and other carers, both present and those in our memories.
A good father is one of the most unsung, unpraised, unnoticed,
and yet one of the most valuable assets in our society. (Billy Graham)
At Holy Spirit, St Clair, we chose to celebrate our dads by inviting all the special men in our families to our early morning barbecue. It was wonderful to see so many fathers, stepfathers, uncles and grandfathers mingling with their own family and other families at the BBQ. As children arrived with their special person they were beckoned to our service table, where they were excited to be given a sausage sandwich and a drink for their special visitor. They were even more excited when they were provided with a sandwich and drink, with many returning for seconds!! Thank you to all our wonderful families for inviting the men in your lives to join us.
I am also so grateful for the commitment our staff members. I am especially humbled by the generosity of our staff, especially Mr Green, Mr Mackey, Mrs Figuero, Mrs Geelan and Mrs Rikihana, as well as our prac student Kristian, who all joined me at school bright and early (6 am!) to help set up and start the cooking! Our office ladies, who organised all the food for the breakfast, proved, once again, to be amazing. Thanks also to all other members of staff who assisted on the day, with Mrs Garzaniti, our TA, working on the BBQ until the very last sausage had been consumed!
