2018 Biggest Morning Tea

Recently one of our students approached us in relation to using our facilities for the purpose of running a fundraiser to support people with cancer. 2018 Civic Reception for School Leaders

Last Wednesday, 23 May, our 4 school leaders, Connor, Dominic, Ellie and Sienna were invited to attend a Civic Reception hosted by the Mayor of Penrith, Councillor John Thain. At this Reception all school leaders from the Penrith local government area were recognised and presented with a special award. Congratulations to our school leaders! 2018 GRIP Leadership Day

On Wednesday, 23 May, our school leaders had the opportunity to attend the GRIP Leadership conference, a course that concentrates on training students for their roles as school leaders. The theme for this year was "Transformers", with the emphasis being that any student is capable of being prepared to lead, or capable of "transforming" into a leader. The Transformers action figures and cartoon characters were used to guide our students. They are great examples of being prepared to lead, with each one knowing how to activate their unique abilities to be helpful in different situations. Early Bird Readers in Full Flight! Here at St Clair our Early Bird Reading program has commenced for another year. The Early Bird Reading program promotes the importance of reading and writing for all our students, whilst simultaneously developing social and emotional skills such as becoming more aware of the emotions, feelings and perspectives of others and building positive relationships. Gymnastics Fever Hits Holy Spirit This term children from Holy Spirit have been involved in a gymnastics program run by the amazing DanceFever Multisport group, which has been partly subsidised by a Sporting Schools grant received by the school. 2018 Family Fun Day

On Thursday the Holy Spirit community joined together to celebrate our Feast Day, commencing with Pentecost Mass at 12 noon. This was followed by a picnic lunch and a range of family activities with all parents and extended family members who could join us. Thank you to all the teachers who worked to organise this day, especially Mr Mackey, as well as to all our parents and family members who were able to take this opportunity to join their children. 2018 K Calmsley Hill City Farm Excursion

Holy Spirit Kindergarten students, together with their teachers and helpers, recently visited Calmsley Hill City Farm as part of their Science unit. Here they were able to get up close to a range of native and farmyard animals. The children were very excited about their visit to the farm. 2018 Y2 Elizabeth Farm Excursion

Last week the Year 2 students from Holy Spirit, together with their teachers and some additional helpers, visited Elizabeth Farm, at Rosehill, one of Australia's oldest homesteads. Here they experienced life in the past as they explored this "living museum". The children had a wonderful day, excitedly sharing their experiences upon their return to school. 2018 Year 6 Canberra Excursion

Year 6 Visits Canberra - As part of their learning about Australia's history in their unit, Australia as a Nation, Year 6 students went on an excursion to Canberra last Thursday and Friday. There was great excitement as students bid their parents farewell in the early hours of Thursday morning. According to all accounts, the children had a wonderful time, learning many things as they visited places such as Old and New Parliament House, the War Memorial, the Australian Electoral Commission, the Australian Institute of Sport and Questacon. 2018 Mother's Day Celebrations - Today we celebrate Mother's Day, a time to honour and thank all mothers, grandmothers and carers for all that they do for us. Across the past week at Holy Spirit we have prepared to celebrate Mother's Day through our gift making and buying (Mother's Day Stall), our special prayers and messages and our Mother's Day Liturgy (thanks especially to Years 5, 3 and Kinder for preparing our liturgy). 2018 Y1 Museum Excursion

On Wednesday, Year 1 went to the Australian Arms Museum at Emu Plains to enhance our learning of Present and Past Family Life that we are studying in our History unit. We received a lovely thank you message from the volunteers at the Museum ... Thank you all for visiting us at the Arms of Australia Inn Museum. It was our pleasure to talk about things of the past to such wonderfully well behaved, polite and interested students. All of the students were wonderful and a credit to their school and teachers. Thank you all for a lovely day and making our job so enjoyable.

2018 Playground

Children at Holy Spirit love coming to school! Every morning I am greeted by happy and smiling faces (mostly) of children who love being at school. When they arrive they come to our playground, find some friends and engage in collaborative play with one another. Our senior students are great role models for our younger students, teaching them not only how to play specific games but also how to look out for and take care of one another.

Sunny Side Up for Catholic Schools

It is estimated the energy saved as a result of installing solar panels at 10 Catholic Schools in the Parramatta Diocese would result in 45% reduction of electricity consumed, resulting in a saving of $495k per annum.
