Woolworths Earn and Learn Program

This year, Holy Spirit Primary School will once again be participating in the Woolworths Earn and Learn Program.

Through this program, we will be able to earn valuable educational resources for the school.

Just shop at Woolies and collect the Earn and Learn stickers. Don't forget to attach them to the sticker sheet and submit to either the school or into the HOLY SPIRIT PRIMARY SCHOOL Earn and Learn collection box at Woolworths St Clair.

The program will run 26th July - 19th September 2017.

Term 3 starts Monday 17th July 2017

Term 3 begins at Holy Spirit Primary School St Clair on Monday 17th July 2017 at 8:50am.

Students should now be in full winter uniform i.e. long grey school trousers for boys and black winter tights for girls. An optional white long sleeve polo may be worn under the school shirt for added warmth on cold days. Please note that sports uniform items are not interchangeable with the regular school uniform.

School uniforms are now supplied by Oz Fashions. Orders can either be placed through the App or by email or phone. Full details in the Week 10 edition of the school newsletter

Monte's Canteen will offer full canteen service facilities from Term 3. Canteen Manager Mary Montebello, with many years experience of managing the canteen at Holy Spirit, is back to providing freshly made sandwiches to order and a variety of hot food and delicious, nutritious snacks, as well as refreshing drinks and ice blocks.

Hot Dog Day as the 1st Wednesday of the month, will once again feature, as well as the opportunity to order your child birthday cupcakes to share with their friends on their special day (please order the day before).

Attendance Notice from the Principal

Important Attendance Update

As you know it is very important that children attend school every day. Quite often leave is requested by parents for various reasons. While we understand that this may be necessary sometimes, it is not encouraged as every school day is important for every child.

If you intend taking your child out of school for five days or more you must make a formal application in writing and fill out an application for extended leave which is available from the school office. It is important for you to know that this leave may not be granted and depends on circumstances such as the intention for the leave, your child’s attendance, and the impact the leave may have on your child’s academic progress.

Principals have been advised that for extended periods of leave for holidays, students be marked as absent.

I have also received advice that children who are kept home from school because of weather conditions such as wind, rain, heat etc are to be marked as unjustifiable leave. Partial absence (being late) with the reason that the child ‘slept in’ is also classed as unjustifiable leave.

These regulations are in place to make sure that your child achieves to his/her full potential and I know you will understand the reasoning behind them.

Kind Regards

Anne Hines
